🚫 The Power of Reducing Importance
Hey friends,
I recently stumbled upon this brilliant concept called ‘reducing importance’, which has completely changed the way I think about my work, relationships, and everyday tasks.
The idea come from the book ‘Reality Transurfing’ which I read 17 days ago and the general message is that a lot of our stress in life comes from placing too much importance on things. Our default reaction is always to take things way too seriously e.g. speaking to strangers, making music, writing essays, etc.
But, if we just dial the importance of that thing down in our mind, we’d be a lot less anxious.
So, one thing I’ve been trying to do recently (especially when something urgent pops up where I feel that sort of frantic energy bubbling up inside me) is to take a breath and remind myself to turn down the seriousness dial in my mind. By acknowledging that most tasks aren't life-or-death situations, I can approach them with a lighter, more relaxed attitude.
Ultimately, I’ll still get things done. But I feel so much better and do better work because I realise that I don’t need to take everything so seriously and it’s okay to have fun 😊
Have a great week 💚
